Members absent: Maureen Albert-Piascik, Robert Crego, Michael Fitzpatrick, Lynn Forrest, Carol Hatcher, and Frank Suponski
Priscilla Cotton, Chair, brought the meeting to order at 7:16 p.m.
To be noted: the appellants had not been notified of the hearing.
Each member of the Board of Abatement received a BOTA Tax Abatement Form completed by Doris Knechtel, lister. On April 20, 2015, the house and outbuildings of Gerald and Janice Sheppard burned to the ground. Doris discussed the calculations she used to arrive at the figure of $969.78 to be abated. Richard Marek moved to abate $969.78 for Parcel ID 00D208. Gloria Cristelli seconded the motion. Limited discussion ensued. Mary Ann Clarkson moved the question. The motion passed unanimously.
Greg Record wanted it recorded that he wants appellants always to be notified of abatement hearings.
Greg also wanted to have the BCA and/or BoA hearings held at a time convenient for Ellen Darrow and Sandra Dowley to get home before dark. Discussion ensued. Some BCA and/or BoA members work full time. There was a suggestion of meeting on Saturdays. By consensus, it was agreed to move the starting time of the meetings to 5 p.m. and to revisit that starting time as winter approaches.
The hearing adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by,
Gloria J. Cristelli
Town Clerk/Board of Abatement recorder
