Newfane Bridge Replacement Update

The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) is replacing the Depot Road Arch Bridge over Rock River in Newfane.

DATE: May 19, 2022

TRAFFIC IMPACT: The closure of the Depot Road Arch Bridge over Rock River is anticipated to continue through the fall. Detour signs and message boards are in place to direct traffic along the detour (via Grimes Hill Rd and Route 30). Grimes Hill Road and Dover Road (at the intersection with Depot Road) are reduced to one-lane operations managed with signals. On Thursday, traffic may be delayed during the offloading of pre-cast arch pieces. Please travel with caution.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: The contractor, Renaud Brothers, poured the last section of the south abutment footing this week. Next week they will set the pre-cast pieces of the arch for the new bridge (from both sides).

The footings for bridge abutments have been the primary focus of work this week.
