The Moore Free Library in Newfane will host a Pre-Town Meeting and Candidates Night on Monday, February 24th.
All candidates for elected office in the town have been invited. None of these positions is contested (there is only one candidate for each position). This is an opportunity to ask questions and gain understanding of the budget, report, articles being voted upon and town governance. All residents of the town of Newfane (this includes Williamsville, South Newfane, and Brookside) are welcome to attend.
From 6:30 to 7:00 PM, candidates running for town elections have been invited to participate in a meet and greet. While there are no contested elections in the town, residents will be able to meet candidates and learn more about them and why they chose to run for office.
At 7:00 PM, the Pre-Town Meeting will begin. Melissa Brown, Newfane Treasurer, and Deborah Lee Luskin, Newfane Moderator, will be present to discuss the articles on the ballot, the budget, and the 2019 Town Report. The format and flow of the meeting and the procedure for discussion and making motions will also be discussed.
Newfane residents are asked to bring their town report (which should arrive by mail before the meeting). There will be a few extra on hand for those who haven’t received the report in the mail.
The Moore Free Library is located at 23 West Street in Newfane. On street parking is available.
