Planning Commission Regular Meeting: July 8, 2021

COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Ken Estey, Lynn Forrest, Nolan Edgar, Jane Douglas, Kate Gehring

OTHERS PRESENT: Merle Tessier (Newfane Zoning Administrator), Ann Golob (Newfane Selectboard)

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:02pm by Ken Estey.

ADDITIONS/AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA
None.

MINUTES
Commission reviewed minutes of 6/24/2021 regular meeting. A motion was made by Lynn and seconded by Jane to approve the meeting minutes of 6/24/2021, as amended. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.

UNSCHEDULED MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
Merle Tessier relayed a request that one or two Commissioners attend a consultation/hearing regarding the building of an eco-village in Newfane, on July 20 th 2021. Merle also discussed Tiny Homes with the Commission.

OLD BUSINESS

Summer Town-wide Meeting Planning:
Commission discussed and agreed to new proposed dates for town-wide meetings. Commission reviewed and worked on Town-wide meeting planning work chart document and Next-Steps document. A motion was made by Ken and seconded by Nolan that the Planning Commission hold a special meeting on Tuesday, July 13 at 6:00pm. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote (4-0, Kate absent).

Broadband Update, Deerfield Valley Communications Union District:
Jane gave report on recent work with the Deerfield Valley Communications Union District board. Anti-Bias and Diversity Training – VLCT: Ken gave report on his attendance at the second VLCT Anti-bias and Diversity training.

Development Review Board (DRB) update:
Lynn gave report on recent/upcoming Newfane Development Review Board work. Commissioner Manual Project: Lynn reported on her progress with getting Planning Commission manuals printed for Commissioners.

NEW BUSINESS
None.

CORRESPONDENCE
All Commissioners received ‘Roadmap to Livability’ document parcel from AARP.

A motion was made by Nolan and seconded by Jane to adjourn. The motion carried unanimously by
voice vote and the meeting adjourned at 8:02PM.
