CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:03pm by Ken Estey.
ADDITIONS/AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA
There were no additions or amendments to the agenda.
Commission reviewed minutes of 3/25/21 regular meeting. A motion was made by Jane and seconded by Nolan to approve the meeting minutes of 3/25/21. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote with Lynn abstaining.
UNSCHEDULED MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
Town Plan Discussion:
Newfane Selectboard member Ann Golob joined the commission for a discussion about how the Selectboard and Planning Commission can work toward the goals of the Town Plan, and which goals are priorities. Commission discussed its work over the past year with Ann. Kate and Ken shared and discussed their working document on identifying core goals, values, and challenges of the Town Plan.
Broadband Update, Deerfield Valley Communications Union District:
Jane gave report on recent work with the Deerfield Valley Communications Union District board. A second alternate (Peter Novak) was elected to the Deerfield Valley Communications Union District board.
Zoning Bylaw for Short Term Rentals – legislative update:
Kate gave report of what she found on the current standings of the two state bills regarding short-term rentals. Kate suggested inviting local state representatives to discuss the short-term rental subject at future meetings.
Development Review Board (DRB) Report:
Walter Dadik gave an update on the most recent Newfane Development Review Board work. The DRB is preparing for a scheduled hearing on Green Burials in Newfane, on 4/28/21. Lynn reported that she is now a member of the Development Review Board.
Trainings – Attendance:
Commission discussed upcoming municipal board trainings and who might attend the trainings. A motion was made by Lynn and seconded by Jane that Planning Commission members may attend the list of trainings with registration fees paid as needed from the Planning Commission budget. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
Hazard Mitigation – Windham Regional Commission & Newfane April 12/21:
Commission discussed upcoming meetings on Hazard Mitigation and Planning Commission attendance at those meetings. Ken agrees to reach out to Margo Ghia at Windham Regional Commission and check in about the Planning Commission’s attendance.
A motion was made by Lynn and seconded by Jane to adjourn. The motion carried unanimously by voice vote and the meeting adjourned at 7:59pm.
