The Moore Free Library in Newfane will be offering free Saturday sewing classes for children aged five and up starting in February. The first session on Saturday, February 1 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, will be an introduction to sewing where children will learn some basic needle skills and practice sewing on felt. No pre-registration is required for the first session. After that, teacher Cheryl Liston will offer a four-part class the first Saturday of the month, March 7, April 4, May 2, June 6, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. The class will cover hand sewing and an introduction to using a sewing machine and children will have materials for practice to take home each week. Children who complete all four classes will get a sewing kit to keep. Due to the use of scissors and needles, this class is appropriate for children aged 5 and up. Registration for the four-part series is required and limited to the first five kids who sign up. Call or email the library to join the class or come on Saturday, February 1 to the introductory session. Like all programs at the library, this is offered for free and is open to the public.
