About the Selectboard
The Selectboard is Newfane’s primary elected body responsible for the overall management of Town government. The Selectboard listens and learns about issues, sets policy, mediates zoning and animal control grievances between neighbors and oversees the Town Budget process. Selectboard members also serve on the Board of Civil Authority, Board of Health, Liquor Control Board and Cannabis Control Committee.
The Newfane Selectboard has five members– three serve a three-year term and two serve a one-year term. All Selectboard members are residents of the Town. Elections are held annually in March.

Anyone can contact the Administrative Assistant to be placed on the agenda, or attend a meeting to be recognized during the “Unscheduled Members of the Public” section.
I couldn’t attend the last meeting. Are the meetings recorded?
Yes, BCTV records all of our meetings and they are posted here. You can also watch it on the BCTV website and cable station.
How do I make sure important issues are being resolved by the Selectboard?
Be actively involved: attend Selectboard meetings and ask questions, reach out to the relevant committee chairs or Town Officers, join temporary committees relevant to a topic.
