Selectboard Budget Meeting

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Angela Litchfield, Ann Golob (Zoom), and Katy Johnson-Aplin.
Absent: Jeffrey Chevalier and Mike Fitzpatrick.

OTHERS PRESENT: Jay Wilson (Road Foreman), Melissa Brown (Treasurer), and Wannetta Powling (Administrative Assistant).

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. by Chair Litchfield.

MEETING WARNING: Litchfield asked if the meeting was properly warned. Powling confirmed that it was.

ADDITIONS/ AMENDMENTS TO AGENDA:
None

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Town Report Design. After reviewing the ideas discussed at the meeting, it was decided to select images that were more contemporary.
  • Considerations included gatherings from the concerts on the common and the Heritage Festival.
  • Plays and the meals at Williamsville Hall and the senior lunch at the Union Hall.
  • Businesses in Newfane – both new ones, reopened ones and old ones as well as the role that Newfane Anew has played in helping to revitalize the community.
  • Dedication. Suggestions were raised and discussed.
    • Honoring the old and new businesses and the prosperity they bring to Newfane’s economic development and revitalization.

Budget Review

  • Treasurer Melissa Brown provided revenue figures and expenses.
  • It was agreed that Powling would look into alternatives to the current phone service to compare rates and service.
  • Powling was asked to contact (the auditor), Sullivan Powers, for 2026-27 contract rates.
  • Powling will scan and forward VLCT’s Compensation and Benefits Report to the SB to review before the next budget meeting.
